Default Rattleing when accelerating

When I accelerate i hear a rattle noise under the exhaust noise sound from the front end of the car? Any ideas what it could be? Seems to be coming from under the engine or bottom half of the engine.

I did think that. Jacking it up tomorrow to find out. It's like a tapperty noise is what it sounds like and it gets loaded when I slowly accelerate under exhaust sound from front end.

Just had a quick look on top and the heat shield seems tight. Noise seems to coming from underneath when I accelerate?

Looking like it's the clutch now, as everything is tight and fine via the engine. May need a new clutch.

Can you get a video up of the noise? Clutch seems unlikely for a rattling noise.

I'll try and get one this week,....It needs a knew clutch anyway as it's high. The noise happens when i labour the engine and it's like a tapperty sound.

My saxo did this due to low oil pressure,it eventually started drinking oil & coughing out black smoke. So I scapped the car.

Is the clutch slipping? How does your clutch pedal sit in relation to the brake pedal (below it, same height, or above it) ?

If your pedal is higher than the brake pedal then you may need to adjust the clutch cable length. Adjusting it also has the effect of moving the biting point. My clutch biting point is quite high and I renewed my clutch 3000 miles ago.

If it never slips (most likely when accelerating hard) then it probably doesn't need replacing.

Not the driveshafts. Had brand new ones fitted last month. Not buying a new clutch if I don't need it---getting noise checked out to diagnose problem first. I just said it could be clutch. Will also record to show people on here to see what they think.

Took it to the garage today to find what the hell that rattle sound was. Turns out it was a corroded clip on the cat. Took it off and it's perfect now, no rattle! Finally the annoying rattle saga has ended. lol

Always good when the outcome is simple and cheap to fix...

Lol, reminds me of an old noise issue on a 106, the car would squeak whenever the clutch pedal pressed and the car accelerating. The fitting kit between the cat and middle pipe was just squeaky. Quarter of a turn on the nuts solved it
