People buy team dynamics on here to decrease unsprung weight but how do they know how will it effect the car overall? More wheelspin off the line? upsetting the car's handling and balance? I think the manufacturers know more than us my friend

Making things look good and making things shiny, however much it costs, is a big part of motorsport. Nearly every owner and every sponsor wont really appreciate you weighing the fuel to the gram and setting the car up on laser hubs. they will only notice that little bit of workshop dust in the door shuts. it's a joke, but reality. So everything you design, everything you fabricate, and everything you refit , you have to think about how it looks after it's functionality has been considered.
So imo everything needs both if it is going to be considered successful. neither one or the other

I think you're just being silly now. Do you want to call it a day?
'The cars balance because you have altered the weight of the wheels'..wheres abouts are the wheels located in relation to the rest of the cars suspension, where will the weight be shifted.. unsprung is a clue.

But manufacturers have to think of cost saving measures so the cars wont come out of the factory being able to handle like a god. So people do stuff to improve it, fitting light wheels is things the manufacturers will cut back on because it costs a fucking bomb.

Is that why you want someone to make a diffuser for a saxo? even if it has no real gains LOL. I think citroen know alittle more then you do, and they know time and money wasted making a diffuser on a saxo wont do nuff all.
Adam what I was saying is that a manufacture/race car team wont add bling if it has no function. Yes i agree with what your saying, But what iam saying is that an f1 team say for instance arent going to add something they don't need, just the same as any other hardcore track day car or motorpsort company. Yes make pretty what is there, but you don't need to add extra stuff just to look good but has no purpose.
Adding a diffuser to a saxo is adding bling with no positive performance gain, that is noticable.

Fair play i admit it was for looks primarily but was hoping one could actually function.
Even though i will not get one i hope someone does make a decent one as it would bring the rear of a saxo up to date.

Serious? This thread started off about sticking vertical pieces of plastic to a Saxo bumper with a bit cut out, and now it's got to the space shuttle.
I suppose all the best ideas start small

I agree with adam, wont work. At least not with out extensive modification to the car ie flat floor etc
not worth the hassle

it think its a good idea,
less of a diffuser part but full under trays, like the lotus Elise,
apparently the undertrays and "diffuser" make a pretty big difference, stability wise due to drag more than downforce i would guess
