Default How To *Adjusting Brake Pedal*

How To *Adjusting Brake Pedal*

A few people have asked me how its done.

Tools Needed

13mm Spanner / Ratchet And Socket
Grease

***NOTE I don't Take Any Responsibility For The Changes You Make***

You need to make sure that you don't over tighten it as the brakes will either just catch, or be constantly on.

And when tightening the locking nut you need to make sure it is tight again to prevent it doesn't come loose.

1. Open the bonnet and put it on its stand.

2. On the bulk head, in-line with the steering wheel above the track rod end you will see a black plastic thing.
This simply removes just pull it off.

3. To see if you do actually have play in the pedal, if you grab the end of the rod, and move left and right (back and forward toward each front wheel), if it moves you have play in the pedal and i would suggest adjusting. If its solid then don't bother adjusting it.

4. Loosen the nut on the end which is a 13mm, it will be tight but is simple to loosen.
You don't have to loosen it much just loose.

5. The inner nut, depending on how much play you had, If its just a small amount due one or two full clockwise turns of this nut.
If a lot of play i went for 5 or 6 turns.

6. Once you have adjusted it as it will be trial and error, tighten the end locking nut back up tight.
Then see if there is any place at all by doing what we did earlier moving left and right, if its solid first time, i would suggest going back to step 4 and 5 as you want it so it just stops the play imo.

7. Once you are happy double check the locking nut.

8. There should already be grease on the nuts, if not i advise to re grease them to stop the pedal squeaking when you press it.

9. Put the black plastic cover on.

10. Shut the bonnet.

11. Go for a test drive and see what you think, should feel alot better.

More trial and error just make sure you tighten the locking nut back up.

Simple as that.

cheers. Did help with my 4pots.
But when you upgrade the master cylinder it really is through the window your eyes out your head braking lol which is what i wanted.

This works well with the 266mm which people say get that small amount of pedal play

I also did this. I had a bout 1.5inches of dead play in the pedal before the brakes came on.

Adjusted this and now ive left about 1mm of play in the pedal so the brakes arent on all the time. The actual pedal travel when braking is the same, theres just less movement needed on the pedal which is better.

Recommended.
