Cleaning engine bay
I was under the impression that jet washing your engine cream crackers it... Is this true?
Only asking as I saw someone doing it the other day n thought to myself "i'm sure that would knacker you engine"
Correct me if I'm wrong...

Always wondered about this as im going snow foam mine once I've changed rocker gasket. What parts specifically am I going to need to cover? battery is the obvious

Pressure washing the bay is ok as long as you don't go mental like a yank who's found his dad's m-16.
Set the lance to its widest birth (lower power) cover electrics etc.

Not a fan really.....imo its just not necessary to get an engine bay clean.
A risk i just wouldnt take.

I've done it (not on my cars) and will probably never do it again. No bad experiences but I can't see the point. Gunk and a brush then swill it all with a watering can then dress all the plastics. I also sprayed my rocker cover fitted a new gasket and sprayed my heat shield. Look ten times better and no pressure washer was used. Waste of time they won't get much more off than some hard work with a stiff brush will.

much better getting some engine and machine cleaner on an old rag and getting involved with a bit of elbow grease to clean it. Chances are you're not going to cover all areas and f*** something up.
A mate got water in his lambda sensor in an AX and shagged it properly. Just not worth the risk really.

never had a problem doing my bay, don't see the point of using a pressure washer either.

Cover everything in truckwash diluted 50/50 and then jetwash it all off.
I tend to stay away from main engine components and concentrate on everything else, the truckwash does most of the work so the pressure washing is merely for a rinse off.
