No that was me yesterday trying to work out how to wire the damned thing before I started researching. Right, I think I understand everything now apart from where the rca cables plug into? And what do all those dials in the middle do?

The RCA cables (red and white connections) go from the rear of your headunit, straight into your amp - see the line in ports (block of 4 red an white female sockets) on your amp. The RCA's simply plug into 2 of those. Probably the pair on the left hand side.

The 'dials' are to tune in your sub, put them all at their lowest, then tune them to see what sounds best - start with gain, then Lpf and go from there.

Okay cheers gents. I'll give you a shout if I get stuck. Any idea where to look for an entry level set of components ~£50? Think I posted an ebay link to some jbl's I saw, what are they like?

Ah righto chap. The jacks labeled line input are where the rca cables plug in from the hu. 1 red and 1 white plug together give you a stereo connection. The numbering should correspond to the terminal numbers on the speaker output terminals.

The line out conection is for if you wanted to plug another amp in as well, so you can ignore those.

Okay mate cool. Any ideas for speakers then? Is the benefit really that much from coaxials to components? Am I likely to notice the difference? Given it will be my first speaker set up and all. And having tweeters cut into the door is kind of obvious haha

Anything jbl will be fine. If you are amping the speakers go for components, if not then I would just get some coaxes.

The amp will be hidden and you can't really notice them if they are door speakers. If they say anything I'll say how was I to know, its hardly obvious. I know that ignorance isn't an excuse though but you know haha!

its not the bloke who fits the box he dont give two shits he's just there to install,
its when u have a crash into some think worth alot more then a saxo and its crumbled like a tin can and your in hospital for two broken legs, your not going to have time to get it out, plus if you know its void why bother saying your bot going to install a sub becAuse it will be void ?

its easier to conceal an amp and some door speakers than a sub... hopefully i wont have a crash anyway haha! If I do then looks like im in trouble, but i didnt know it was fitted.

^ in the bin would be the best place! lol! Putting them in the parcel shelf like most muppets just pulls the sound stage backwards. I have seen a door build with a pair of 6x9s high up and to the front, almost at the bottom of the A pillars. Look pretty good actually, but not easy to do.

Think I'm gonna go down the coaxial route, what is a suitable rms for a set of door speakers? Is 35 okay?

And seeing as I'm not getting a sub or doing components, should I do the rear?

So wierd, I was looking at exactly those, including a choice between two on the rear. And the head unit will power these fine yeah?

Yep pretty much any headunit would power those.

Ideal going to order them.

Wiring in the sub and amp to my mate's car, can we wire the standard fronts into the amp as well for a bit better performance?

you wont get a better performance out of standard shitty speakers. wouldn't waste my time trying to amp them, they would most probs just blow up lol
