Where would you start with this? BLACK PAINTWORK

Hi guys

After some advice from the people in the know where to start with this!

Its been a long time since I got involved with anymore than just washing a car since my 106 went 4 years ago!

All my products etc I had are all well past it! Now aswell


So anyway picked this up for the mrs last week, 2010 corsa

Paintwork is crap onit! (dealer is supposed to be sorting it but I wont hold my breath they will do a good job, more just a quick fix!)

Basically the car looks like its been sign written at some point, so there is various edges visible in the sun light, its also been badly flatted down to removed some deeper imperfections id assume, and also the whole rear ¼ had been painted and flatted at some stage!

I have tried to get some pics as best I can to show how flat/hazy the rear end of the car is! Not the best pics tbh off my phone

So what could I use to sort this mess out? Shall I re flat the lot with a finer grade and then hit it with the g3? Honestly looks like the apprentice has done it and it was his first go with it! (also some burn through on edge of door, and the seal around the window has been caught aswell)


Recommended products to use on s budget these days? I like a “wet look” shine usefully but this is just the mrs daily that’ll do 50+ miles a day so its never going to be perfect but cant be left like it is!

Dickhead who did that needs a good kicking.

If you have a machine polisher that'll sort it, if not leave it with me for a weekend and I'll wash/clay/correct/wax it.

Try meguiars correction compound and finishing wax great results

looks like the dealer has had a go at running some polish over is with a machine polisher but the car/pad hasnt been totally contaminant free.

Jesus! Black is hard but put the time in and it comes up mint. Machine polish with a good brand wax, maguries is what I use. They do a 3stage kit that's good results, the machine will do the work for u, but don't get pressing to hard and making it worse. But not too light that it does fuck all. Every one in a while do this but not too often. Tcut will shine dull patches if u need it. But wax it after

If you don't want to be machine polishing then try something like Poorboys Black Hole with Dodo Juice Purple Haze. Very good combo for hiding swirls/scratches but if you want it to look nice it will need correcting.

Thats buffer trailed to fuck. As Snewham says, something with a bit of filler to it will help hide the marks, but youll only be masking the problem.
