Just found a engine in my garage the only codes I can find on the block is tupy 7 306600 anyone know what it is

Those are casting numbers.

Alloy blocks have a riveted plate next to the flywheel sensor down the front of the engine bay. On cast iron blocks it is also stamped in here.

The engine code is also part of the VIN number. VF31A(ABC)123456789 where ABC will be the engine code.

Pics are also welcome, along with year of manufacture and ECU type.

Thank you for replying I can’t get any more info as I no longer have the engine some bastard nicked it along with a load of other stuff

Well that's not particularly handy!

Must have been cast iron, alloy blocks aren't worth anything as scrap.

So if it was iron block, and an 8 valve head it was probably a 1.6 VTR engine.

I've had a gearbox nicked once, pain in the arse. Just had to put my crunchy one back in.
