reading data through OBD/OBD2/PSA protocol?

Hi,

i own a 1999 Citroën Saxo 16v and, if possible, would like to buy an OBD/OBD2 port or whatever (if is cheap) device i need in order to communicate the car with a Laptop nad/or mobile phone to be bale to run a diagnostic on the car and see if it throughs any failures.

Also, if possible, would like to be able to communicate the car with my mobile phone to read the fuel consumption and other interesting data while driving.

I've read the car may be using a custom Citroën/PSA protocol instead of OBD or OBD2 port but i don't know it for sure.

So i wonder if you guys know which port/protocol or standard is implemented on the car and if it's possible to buy some cheap device to communicate the car via bluetooth or cable with a laptop or a mobile phone to run the diagnostic and if posible read the consumption while driving and this kind of things.

It is not OBD II, only models with a 3 plug ECU can communicate with OBDII.

You will need a Lexia Cable and Diagbox Software.

My ECU is Magneti Marelli, when you talk about 3 plug, where on the ECU should I look for the 3 plug? Mine is similar to this [1] one. Single port.

On the other hand, do you think this [2] adapter would work? To me it looks like an adapter.

Almost any decent scan tool would have PSA capability.
MT2500 snap on scanner can be had for cheap S/H these days and they work well with the right cartridge.

I have 1999 1.1i TU1M/Z with one plug ECU, analogic dashboard. I check and it has a regular OBD socket, not the 30 pin Lexia. Probably was one last series just adapted to be sold with the new legislation?

however the cheap readers will not work as it's not OBD-II despite it having the OBD socket.
