Dials, temp & fuel gauge issue
Another issue.
The rev counter has never worked on this quiksilver VTS conversion.
I put a ground on the rev counter pin on the clocks and it jumped about, so the clocks work. Spare clocks also don't work on the rev counter. Ran my own wire to the pin out on engine to interior connector, still nothing, so could be a signal problem. I heard the signal is the ground, so that would be at the ECU end.
Now... the water temp doesn't work & the fuel gauge also. Light is on, for low fuel - when it is 3/4 full. This has just started.
Unplug top coolant temp sensor, car runs rubbish and light comes on. But the needle never moves.
I'm thinking there is a dodgy earth? Presuming the ECU is earthed via the main engine bay earths and doesn't have it's own?

Still struggling, focused on the fuel gauge and light.
Issue: Ignition on, slight needle move from bottom, but hardly noticeable, reserve light on.
All earth's cleaned up - no change
Earthed the fuel sender locally - no change
Earthed clocks - no change
Earthed fuel gauge clock wire/pin - no change
Touched wires in back of clocks (fuel light goes out) - hmmm
Either clocks or the actual fuel sender is stuck/bolloxed.
Just gotta keep going.... FFS

Have you maybe fed to a bit of the board incorrectly and frazzled the clocks?

Don't think so. I have the pin outs for the clocks, so was pretty sure I was accurate.
Got some new clocks coming, if not them - will get the sender out.

Mine use to do the same with the fuel needle thing years ago,it turned out to be the gauge that was faulty, hope the new one fixes it for you too.

New Clocks = Problems fixed.
I thought I'd done enough due diligence to rule everything else out.
I wonder what issues are next!
