sell your car, buy camera equipment. I bypassed the car option and just blew a few ££££'s on kit. Sigma 100-300 is calling me... I've decided the 120-300 is just too expensive for me, and I want the 5dmkII.
miss you sexy x

very old design, first generation IS. crappy aperture. My bet is it'll be updated within a year.

How right, just want replacement for current Sigma which i think will be 70-200L f/4 IS
Then im a bit short so want something a bit longer focally which is why i thought 100-400L. You recommend anything else sayer?
I hear the 120-300F/2.8 sigma i think is good no? Although ideally id like something a tad longer.

£1300 lens though is the sigma 120-300
I don't paying for it I just don't want to pay for it. I've got the f/4 IS and actually F/4 has never let me down or I've felt I needed faster.
Sigma 100-300 f/4 is £600
So for me at the moment f/4 for long lenses suits me fineeee. Then I'll just bosh a 1.4x extender on the Sigma and get 420mm @ f/5.6
sorted
bullit I've repped you loads of times mofo... I just don't always leave my name bro

Geese is it really that expensive didnt realise. Still would of prefered a lens with a focal length of 400 so i could get good shots and then add a 1.4tc to get even more range! Would be great for wildlife and airshows.
Hmm i dont know. Wont be buying till next year so will wait and see if there will be an updated version of the 100-400L

you can't put an extender on the 100-400L unless you're using a 1 series body man.
hence going for the cheaper Sigma

you're kidding me? I've spoken to loooooads of people now about the Sigma 100-300 (well people at Brands Hatch and Croft and some photography geeks in London). It's a beauty.
100-400 is pretty unique but I've used it. I don't like it at all. you might like it but for £900 I'd rather save a bit more and get the 120-300 or save £200 and get the 100-300 and a 1.4x

Sorry i didnt mean the lens was shite lol. I mean its shite that you cant use a TC on the 100-400L lol
Might be the 120-300 then ill have to save my pennies lol. Is it a USM or HSM which ever one lol Not got IS though has it.
Can you add a TC to the sigma?

yup! you can stick a 2x on the 120-300
only a 1.4x on the 100-300.
it's got HSM (which is Sigma's version of Canon's USM). No IS but it's not everything... not really needed for motorsport tbh.

No not really motorsport although its handy isnt it. Also would be good for airshows when things like copters are hovering can get a better shot and drop down a few stops.

Yeah defo man... again this is what I was asking myself... for the amount of motorsport photography I do is the 120-300 worth it. Probs not. tbh.

What would be worth it for you?
I do and like doing things which are fair away like motorsport, animals and airshows so it might be worth it to me but who knows lol

see what you mean man.
100-300 is cheaper (£600) and for me that is worth having because I can use the short end for portraiture (but I'd probably use the 70-200) and as you say facilitate the use for things like birds, womens breasts, airshows and other mumbo jumbo,
