300 2.8 IS L fastest AF of any canon lens when on a 1D body + with TCs works very very well.
F4 = Fail
Id saved enough to buy a IS L, but want to try the cheaper sigma first to see if i can get away without IS and thus save a few grand

I saw, was a bargain.
You do know that higher shutter speeds the requirments on IS are less?

shooting with a monopod reduces camera shake (although can get some vibrations)
DaveG gets on perfectly fine with both his non IS siggys for motorsport. Its in the technique. Soething I need to re learn myself as not shot motorsports for well over a year really.

i suppose it depends what shot you do.
i cant imagine panning without IS. lol fair enough for something where i dont have to show motion in the wheels, but most of the time, thats what i like to do

How often are you panning at 600mm tom? lol.
For sports generally im about 1/640 + at least sometimes 1/1250.
70-200 = panning

any ideas of the cost of fixing?
might be an idea to hire a lens for the event you needed it for?

reason i bought the sigma was because its just under £200 to hire the 300 2.8 IS L.
So imo not worth renting.
I expect gonna cost 100+ to fix. Just shit luck it worked when I bought it so dont think the dude selling it was selling something duff.
