Default how the hell do u run a dskchk

ok on windows xp start up it comes up blue screen and then says cancelled a disc check, so u need to perform one for blah blah reasons.

so searched google on how to do it, dos mode thingy and type dskchk runs 1 of 3 gets to 100% then says error cant do such n such in read only

read through google thingy again and it says i need to type volume f: or r: after dskchk but it wont bloody do anything.

need some simple instructions and pref in english not computer talk please.

any help much appreachiated

Right click the drive in computer, go to properties and it's in one of the tabs (error checking), will then prompt u to restart and will initiate on bootup

/f - fixes any errors on the disk
/r - Finds bad sectors and recovers readable information

and why didnt windows just write that instead of the 20 page computer talk i read!!!

press start type in CMD

then in the black box type /CHKDSK

Best way is this way...

find a winows XP disk, OEM/SELECT etc any of them

Boot to it
Press "R" so you go to the repair console..
Log into your windows so it will be option 1 if your disk isn't tooo fucked..
then type CHKDSK /f

sit back and wait...

take disk out and reboot
win
