Writing a track with a half step beat doesn't make it dubstep.

Urgh. here we go this bores me tbh. With all due respect mate, people don't need opinions like that which kinda makes me feel like you said it to make yourself sound smart and some sort of all seeing eye regards to music......
You're entitled to your opinion and in some part I agree.

I know this technically isn't dubstep in its own right but, same as bassline isnt garage how it originally started.

I had to deal with the movement from UK G to bassline, didn't like it much and used to moan like you are, but that's how shit works. Music moves and people follow the movement whether you like it or not.

Everytime someone posts a track of which by todays standards is considered" Dubstep " to the masses, Someone saying," oooh this isnt dubstep blaa blaa blaa". ISN'T gonna change the fact that the way its been commercialised is the reason why so many people are into dubstep now.
Don't be surprised though (as UK G has) when it returns to its roots. Music has a funny way of going in cycles with regards to genres.

And actually, on a side note, at least this hasnt got any of that wap wap wap.... stuff in it. Its just a tidy sub remix of the competition accapella, If you dont like it fair enough but moaning about the genre thing just makes no sense.

IIRC you work with artists and what not I've heard that before too. You're entitled to your opinion and in some part I agree.

lol... you're just another kid trying to hop on the bandwagon and wing it for a while. when the next trend comes along you'll hop onto that.

How can you make good music when you clearly don't have a love for what you're making?

For the record: it doesn't matter what form of EDM it is to me or what's commercial or not... dnb, dubstep, house, techo etc - if you're not really into it, then you'll struggle to make a good track - that is evident in your work.

I'll vote for you pal. But I personally hate 'Dubstep', it's a shite genre of 'music'. Just everyone loves it because it's 'the thing' right now, got all sorts of artists putting it into their music to try and make some records sales lol, tis embarrasing how all new music these days sounds the same.

Bring back real hip-hop, real rock, real RnB...

ok so first of all, I ain't no kid, and second of all more importantly I'm not trying to wing anything. What a ridiculous thing to say.
I ain't jumped on no bandwagon
This genre might not be my main choice but it's a competition vocal that I thought would suit the beat I made..... laid back and chilled.

I didn't just jump on a trend u don't even know me, I actually like the commercial sound to dubstep.... basically what u just said is I should only be making what I love.... ? absolute none sense, I love music, regardless of the genre, I also love the challenges of stepping out my comfort zone, even if I'm not as good in one genre as another.

I make bits of everything as part of a learning process with regards to producing.

Just " I don't like it " would have been fine. I just don't see why you feel the need to get into some musical debate about it. You come across as very condescending.

Thanks man......

See this is the thing with me mate, I don't like it because its the trend, I like it because I like the sounds. Im not the sort of person to just follow sheep.

It's like, UK garage has been going for time, and I've been djing it years along with the evolutionary stages such as baseline/ speed garage etc.

But just because UK garage is coming back popular now, if I continue djing / producing it, does that mean I'm jumping on the bandwagon, course not. I've always loved it.

"got more bars than wandsworth and dartmore"

Then theres 'giggs'.. lol.

Sorry if this causes offence to anyone, guess it probably will.. u mad?

Thats what gets me about it. My mate is involved with grime, says to me " make some grime beats man, i can get sox on it and have you in 1 Xtra studio in no time " But Im just not into it, i dont like the scene and culture of it.

Something about tightening a drawstring hoody up so you can only see your eyeballs, sitting in someone elses car with the hardest most dangerous look on your face swearing into the cam just makes me cringe TBH. " Its like whoa, scary motherfucker he is ".

On a side note, some of the shit to come out of London is just embarrassing. Its like if you can rhyme two words together your a bigtime rapper. Theres talented people out there who wont even get a look in, Just cause they're not from London.

I agree, with this, i love listening to grime artists and any form of rap music, But the image that comes with it in my opinion is yes stupid, but its what seems to be expected of them. Kind of sad to be honest! Ima bad man fam you get me cuz!
