What do you want to use it for?
Will you travel with it alot, or will it mostly be stationary?
Whats your budget?

I'm not overly clued up on the technical stuff tbh but i just bought a 2nd hand Acer laptop on eBay for about £250 or something cant remember exactly
For £300-£400 i would be wanting 2.1GHZ processor or more, 4GB of RAM, and atleast a 250GB hard drive
I would deffo recommend an Acer laptop, i love mine
Someone else will be able to elaborate more though but there's a start
