Would this work ethernet

my xbox and ps3 are on other side of room to router i've got an ethernet cable going to my xbox pinned to skirting board but have noticed when watching iplayer on ps3 it jumps and freezes cant be bothered changing cable over just wondering if i get one of these will it work ok

if i plug the cable thats already there into this then i've got a couple 1m cables to go to xbox and ps3 i know i'll only be able to use one thing at once which i only have one switched on at a time anyway (unlike a mate who has both switched on at once)

I suppose that would work providing that only 1 device is switched on at a time. I know xbox's can go into a sort of hibernate mode where they still carry on downloading DLC so if this was enabled it would cause problems.

A cheap switch would be my preference though

Cant you just get another cable for use from your router to your other device. Basically one port for xbox one for ps3. Hard wired your gonna get a much more stable connection. The router Will also prevent you from having to power cycle your modem like i used to have to do. (due to having no router). If i was using rj45 cable for internet on pc, then unplugged it and put it in xbox, the console wouldnt see any connectivity until i restarted my modem.
