Default Can you clear up a conversion question.

So i have got a Vts engine single plug out of 99 Vts, i have a 3 plug 01 vtr.My question is can i go and buy a 3 plug vts engine loom and ecu and run that on the single plug engine or is there a better way and please dont say buy a 3 plug vts engine. Also would there be much splicing of wires involved.

Thanks..

best thing to do is use the single plug ecu/loom that came with the engine and cut both multi plug ends off the looms and splice your vtr one on to the vts loom, my housemate tom5190 has done countless amounts of looms, he has pin outs for pretty much every loom you can get and hes came across some strange ones

Helped my mate with same conversion not so long ago,
60quid (irc) and loom sent to pug1off, came back and plugged straight in.
Even gave a diagram how to wire the fan in.

As sam said the chassis plug off the original engine loom needs putting onto the 16v engine loom.

to swap to 3 plug ecu and loom you need to replace pretty much every single sensor on the motor and the fuel injectors
