So, a FWD below 900kg (say, a Saxo/106 for example) would be better than a RWD below 900kg (say, an Elise)? 
RWDs are generally better because they've got better distribution (courtesy of the diff etc at the back), and because they're not putting everything through the front wheels (steering/acceleration and braking). Not saying FWD are bad by any means, but equal RWD are quite often better because of that.

Just using basic math and design methodology there is not one instance where a fwd car is superior to a rwd car of the same weight and same power. If both are designed in likeness the rwd will have better weight distribution, lower polar moment of inertia, better weight transfer characteristics in both acceleration and deceleration, more responsive handling inputs, torsionally stiffer due to the necessity to apply drive across the rear axle.

The only fwd lotus i know of is the elan from the 90's. it is supose to be one of the best fwd cars round the bends ever. but no, not famous

Fitting the corbeau sprint and omp wheel has been the best thing i have done, makes the car so much fun to drive and when harnessed in you dont move an inch

got to admit, ive driven plenty of cars with buckets before, but they werent mine...after fitting mine you feel so much more planted and secure, makes the car feel totally different to drive, and gives you alot more confidence in the bends, also...since im now sitting a good few inch lower the car feels so much better in the corners aswell

On every trackday when it rains, rear wheel drive cars lose the back end in the bends and spin! My saxo is quick but in the dry not as quick as an M3 CSL but s soon as it rains I am ableto catch and pass most cars! As it
Takes far more skill to drive a rear wheel drive car in the rain especially if it's mid engined! I have own, M3's MR2's many rx7's and they are a lot harder to drive quick in the rain is slippery conditions not just snow! Can't be arsed to go into detail re laws of physics and in the dry rear wheel drive will always be bette otherwise formula one cars would be front wheel drive! Just for an everday person in the wet in indentical power to weight ratio I believe the from wheel drive would be quicker as would be more

On a track day, people pussy out as soon as it rains as they don't want to hit anything. TBH basing ANYTHING on a track day is a bad idea.
