The car will run fine without a sigcon... as long as you use a secondary MAP sensor....

BUT, it wont be as good as with a sigcon.

I ran my car for 2 years withOUT a sigcon unit.

The sigcon will enable you to run lambda control properly and enable proper fuelling to be used.

The sigcons not essential, but when youre spending so much on a project already.. 200 quid more isnt too much to have it running better.. is it?

what do you mean by secondary map sensor? and what exact parts would i have to use to convert it

does that mean i would not use the standard one at all?

thanks barry

You need the std map sesnor to keep the ecu happy.... but as soon as you go into a boosted state, the ecu wont know what to do with the data it receives... and after a while it will stop listening to the map sensor.. and flag it as an error... this is why the sigcon is used, so that all systems function normally.

You must use some sort of fuel computer.. ie an MF2. You will need a 2nd MAP sensor to wire into the fuel computer, so that you can inject more fuel for more boost, etc...

There are some quite good messages in this engines forum about use of the signal conditioner, etc... might have to look back more than the month listed though?

simo, mind you tell him that he will destroy his std map sensor sooner or later and that will be another 80quid,I damaged two in quick time on my s/c vts ,thats what started me thinking about the sig con to start with and also it stops the lambda trying to pull the fuel out you have mapped in ,at any throttle angle less than full, and if its a nwere type ecu then it will not run right wwithout one at all, any three plug ecu will not wotk without one ,and the bosch 74.4 ecu on vtr (98/9 on will not like it either
