The last couple of times I've tried quick starts, I've had a really worrying noise come from the gearbox! When I put it in 2nd from 7800 in 1st, I hear a REALLY loud noise which sounds like my gearbox has fallen out from under the car!

Thats you syncro mesh mate myn is similar on the pug 206 gti it grinds at high revs when going into second only when given limiter action

I would like to go on track at trax, but i have no idea if the build is going to be completely finsihed. Wouldn't want to take my car on track not fully set-up!! Fingers crossed though as we have about 3 weeks.
If not i will bring out the volvo Woop Woop!!
Toad - Well marlow isn't tht far at all mate, my dad lives in beaconsfield and i have loads of friends in maidenhead.. Do you know paul j (drives a blue 106 gti) or johnny (drives a silver turbo vts). We always use to do windsor cruise!

Are you sure? I get that noise you describe when going from the limiter in 2nd to 3rd... However, this noise is more like a bang! It sounds as if the friggin gearbox fell out off the car! It did it again today... Grrr.

I don't know any 106 / Saxo owners... I don't think I've ever even seen a 106 GTI in the Marlow area.
