Couldn't agree more!
I really appreciate older cars, including some that most really don't care about (Citroen Xantia, Rover 800 etc) and I actually used to be mad about old Fords, but really, I absolutely can not see how an old 'fast ford' can fetch like £20k like you see some advertised. Madness

Pretty rare, you need to find a decent properly maintained one.

It's the citroen equivalent of the 205. Yeah they're kinda shit in some ways, but still a hoot to drive. As in hot hatch.
Now back in the thread, I have seen a 309 gti quite a few times in the area that was well maintained, the guy could ask silly money if he was to sell it tomorrow. Back in the day I knew quite a few guys who were 205/309 gti mad...

Z3M coupes are well on the way up.
Bmw 1m will always be worth strong money.
E39 m5 are on the up
I personally think a well kept manual e46 m3 will appreciate. Last of the N/A straight 6's
Certain mercedes cl65 amg sl55 amg
B5 rs4's
The right model impreza an rb320 for example.
There are quite a few cars I'd buy as investments.
They have to be bone stock though.
A trend I've noticed un restored cars are fetching close to fully restored ones. Sometimes surpassing them.
