a turbo didnt cost much extra at all on my vtr with admiral. Was cheaper than a 16 valve conversion ha

also i havent added my mum as a named driver. She has points and crashes to her name so it makes it more expensive lol

Think im going to buy some new pads, since the discs are brand new i might as well buy the pads too even though they have loads of life left.

Think i should go for Frodo ds2500's? any other suggestions?

Nothing interesting really, primed up the C5's which are the daily wheels on the Cherry flatarch 16v atm. they will be the track wheels for the turbo build currently in white and will probably stay like that too.


Then while the paint was drying i started to strip down the brembo's.



got one into bits and took 3 of the 4 large allen capped bolts out the 2nd brembo then the twat rounded off. so going to have to run a stud extractor through the middle soon.



up at rickys tomorrow after work around 2pm. collecting some cool shit if all goes to plan ill update again tomorrow evening




Big decision wheel wise.

I looked at the Speedline Turinis that are in the garage earlier and i think i fell back in love with them, i might try black wheels on the grey car... that will be with Red brembo's





Been to Ricky's today, nice surprise waiting for me...

Not really much to say but my beam from IM Axles *Should* be here this week but im not getting replies via email so im going to ring him tomorrow and ask why i've not had any contact because i want to get the brake lines mocked up and/or in before everything else.

I need a non power steering steering column, rack and pedal box setup.

Take the coilovers off the cherry and fully refurbish those to go onto the turbo shell.

and start to build in all of the loom. the ECU will be relocated to behind/under the dash to keep it out of the bay.

The bonnet was painted but ricky wasnt happy so he's respraying it again sometime soon.
The wings, arches, sideskirts and bumpers will all be getting painted soon.


Thoughts. i think Satin black bumpstrips will look much better than gloss black ones, thoughts?

So, got her into the natural french position earlier




Picked up some brake line today, got 25ft for £7 so gonna attempt to at least route the line where i want it to go.

Need some fittings, probably 10 or so male and female and then two T pieces. anyone know where i can get some at a reasonable price?

not much to update and none of it specifically interesting really. things are starting to add up big time

I've just ordered the following

Full single plug loom
Non pas Pedal Box
Non pas Steering Rack
Non pas steering column
106 GTI Brake Servo
306 GTI6 Master Cylinder.

all of the above is going to need a good tidy up and most of it will get painted/treated to new seals ect..

watch this space.

Currently saving up for the gearbox rebuild which hopefully will be in a couple weeks. going to set me back nearly £550 for the stuff i want

Couple things have happened since.

Trial fitted the brembo's and checked if i liked a speedline turini in black. i do.




Painted all the arches and the bottom half of the bay

Then found a mark on the shell, this wasnt there when the car came back from rickys so it was done at my house



Picked up my powerflexed beam from IM Axles



Popped it on quickly so its out my way




Rebuild kit for the brembos arrived

First coat on the brembo's. remember i tested that engine paint on the brembo's but it was a little orange, well the one on the far left was the one that i tested it on. that paint seemed to be a brilliant starting coat for the caliper paint. so anyway i did the first coat




then realise if i painted them with the engine paint then waited for that to dry and then used the caliper paint it covered much better!




While they were drying i took to hammeriting the boot floor, it was already sealed with that stone chip stuff but i wasnt happy with it and had loads of hammerite left. needless to say i got paint on my face and painting while laid on the floor made my arms ache

Quickly coated the Rear hub carriers. turns out that using the brush i did the calipers with and black hammerite made the paint brown ahah





I'll give those another coat soon with a clean brush to make sure they are black.



Parts that i ordered ages ago, loom. NON pas stuff ect.. still hasnt arrived. annoyed at the guy and i've stressed i need them asap. once they are fitted properly and my brakes are lined up i can fit the engine so im just waiting on him really..

since you lot seem more clued up than the moaners club i have a lad offering me some fittings for the brake lines. he wants £70 posted, i know the price is reasonable but im just wondering about the size, im just going to run 3/16ths copper lines and he says the line he ran was -3. im assuming he's talking an..

so will my lines fit? the fittings are made by earls and consist of

4x banjos and bolts
5x 90degree bends
3x straight connector
2x tee piece.

well 3/16ths is the O.D of standard copper lines so 1/8 is 2/16ths ID which makes the OD around 3/16ths... or i would imagine so anyway

Probably mate but Dont think this will be finished anytime soon, if im lucky before fcs14.

idea was to get it done for fcs13 but that looks impossible right now. so much stuff still to buy and on this wage im barely living on my pay.

soon im down to apprentice wage for a year at £106/week which will be even worse. so over the year i think i'll save as much as poss and get the box diff'd too and hope that shes done for fcs 14.

in the mean time ill slowly build her up and get everything done properly.

If you're running copper lines i wouldn't even bother with those fittings id just buy a good flarer and some normal fittings. You'll need some flexis though so i dont see why you dont do rear bulkhead to front bulkhead in copper so the interior and then use braided to the caliper.

I still don't see why you didn't take the stuff out when you got it painted or get the under arches done in 2k? Better finish and wouldn't of taken a lot of prep!

Because bodge job thats why boy!

and personally i prefer the black arches that was a choice of my own.

as for the fittings are you saying run form the MC in copper to a T on the bulkhead then run from the T to both calipers on the front in braided. and then same for the rear. the rear one will obviously be run inside so through the bulk head and then all the way past the handbreak to the rear.

Ah ill let you off then!

On mine iv gone from mc in braided to a t and then braided to both calipers but you could use copper then run the normal flexi to the caliper iv only done it braided all the way cos of my notch.

Rear i would go braided from mc to a bulkhead fitting on the front and run copper inside through your bias valve then t at the rear to a bulkhead fitting then braided to caliper
