longer the linkage = longer the gear change
sorter the linkage = shorter the gear change

the play in your gear stick my not be caused by the linkages as i found out i was missing a rubber bush of the end of one of the big links so i replaced that and solved the problem!

there's a little pin that also can be replaced that causes loose gearstick.
