Default Saxo VTS Catalytic Converter

Can anyone help me please, if I do away with a catalytic convertor from my VTS do I need to connect the sensor into the exhaust pipe. If I left it disconnected will it effect the performance. I value any comments

You legally can’t remove the cat, if you do mot fail and all that shite. Just leave the cat in saves hassle and fines. Then you don’t have to worry about where it’s placed. But if you want to remove it then yes it will throw a code and to do it correctly you need it in the pipe.

Thanks for the reply. The car is going to be be used off road and does not require an MOT. I need to replace the exhaust system from the down pipe and was going to purchase one without a cat. What I am trying to find out is do I require the lambard sensor connected to the exhaust pipe. Would it confuse the ECU being disconnected

Yes the ECU will see that the cat has been removed.

you MUST fit the lambda sensor at the front, if you have a system with 2 lambdas you need to fit the front one. The rear can be disconnected but it'll never be quite right.

I am leaving the front lambda sensor connected. The second I will have to weld a boss into the new exhaust pipe to fit the second lambda oxygen sensor.

Used to run decat. I left the front one in and removed the rear. No codes and ran fine.

The second lambda is there to detect the efficiency of the cat. But it doesn't influence anything. It should illuminate the EML though and throw a code.
If it's a track car, disconnect it. If you don't want the light on, put it in a sleeve.
