Dude get yourself some grey scotch pads and give the van a wash with them will get rid of the unevenness and still keep it matte. The purple is way better than the orange and black less cheap.

Vans aren't very cool I've decided, unless you have loads of money to throw at them, which I do not.
I would prefer to say the van won it, than I won it. Means I can sell the van for a couple of hundred extra

Not if this scotch pad idea works!
I'm worried that it is the internet and it maybe a case of
"WHEEEEEEEEEYYYY DICKHEAD SCRATCHED HIS ENTIRE VAN"
It is staying purple. I really really really like it. I'm not scene enough and don't have the time to pull off a nice well finished colour

These make sure you get very fine or it will look like you just rubbed it down.

No it wont. The fine ones are the ones that are used to give matte finish.

I used the stuff everyday for FOUR years. They're used to key panels ready for paint. It gives the pain something to stick to.
The fine (Grey) pads are for panels that'll be blended and not primed. The harsher stuff (red) is for new panels that will have primer before hand.
Jay, as I said on Facebook, if you use this stuff then you'll be repainting the van.
After four years in the trade Bedford, i'd hope I know what its for lol

After 12 years in the trade I know what this stuff can be used for and I know that it will be fine to make the van matte.

The paint on the van barely covers the orange underneath. If he scotches it then you'll be seeing orange through the purple. And so painting it again!

After 3 days in the trade, I am going to call this one.
I shan't be doing this scotch pad bizzo, due to the fact, there is still orange showing
What I will be doing, is taking a lot more time, and giving it another going over, panel by panel to make it a bit more even.

I wouldn't be using Plasticote mate but that's just me. See if you can borrow or rent a compressor and gun from someone and get the purple matched up at a paint suppliers. You will end up with a better finish better coverage and you will find it a hell of a lot cheaper and quicker. Most matte / satin 2k top coat is around £20 per litre and once thinner and hardener is added you will have 1.75 litres so plenty to paint you're van with.
