Default Saxsport Q

I've currently got a 2" saxsport system fitted and I'm wondering if the dummy cat acts as a silencer at all?

I had previously thought that it was merely there for show and had no silencing properties whatsoever,in fact it was just straight through to the backbox.

Is that the case?
