Default Is my car cammed help needed.

So after posting in one section was said to make a thread asking if my car is cammed.

The reason am asking this is because am doing almost the clock speed of 145MPH

From what I know my car has had no mods done to it what so ever from what I can see other than after market Air filter and Exhaust back.

It has standard 15" alloys that come with it I have also checked with a speed test app and is spot on for the speed am doing with dials on car.

Exhaust back box is different no name to it and manifold is a 4-2-1 some standard stuff with heat shield on it at engine I will get some pictures later today as doing some work and oil change.

This is a VTS 1.6 2003 model. And I am getting almost the clock out of the car. I have taken it up to 140PMH still had more to go in it but didn't want to push. Any advise on what to check to see if anything been done to car as I looked and nothing from what I can judge as been done. Maybe remap on ECU but no idea than the back box and air filter that's it.

Thanks to anyone who posts and gives me some pointers to look for and see.

what revs was it doing? at a genuine 140 youd be a sneeze away from hitting the rev limiter.

by the way, they only said to make an "is my car cammed" thread because the wee girls on here get a kick out of recycling and hanging onto old jokes that werent funny in the first place.

Take off your cam covers and look at the end of the cams for numbers/codes. None there? its not cammed.

I was at around 60 to 65 just on the outer of the red and I still had a fair bit on the peddle to go to

Not nessaccerily
My vtr apart from a kam racing cat back exhaust does 120mph on a private smooth road
So extra 20-25 mph with extra 22bhp ish in a vts may be possible
Then again it's all down the the gearing of the box.

Just taken car to shop done oil change etc had a look at the cam cant see any markings on it other than the plate that's on the cover for it. With regards to clocks again theirs nothing wrong with them and their 100% correct. For me thinking 145MPH on the clock its got 140MPH that I reached and it had more to go on it

Will take cover off again and have another look for any markings or numbers.

That's the standard exhaust manifold aswell bud. My old 106 gti used to go off the clocks aswell and it wasn't calmed but could hit the limited in 5th easily don't use your speedo at that kind of speed as a genuine speed though as it will be out every car is! You need to check it with gps accurately

From photos the manifold looks like the standard one I removed from my vts.

The back box looks like a magnex.

If you adjust your rubbers you should be able to get it sitting straighter. You can use some cable ties around the rubber if its a bit worn to get it sitting good.

Quite, though there are many that will be 99% there, Volvo's for example are calibrated properly, should imagine the veyron will not be too far out.

60MPH am hitting 25 to 28 on rev counter.

Sorry for response Had to nip out.

Had the car remapped today and befor that being done thous where the figures. Now after am sitting at 20 to 22 on revs. Had a full remap done and tune up seems I might have a fair bit to play with and getting other parts for it in future.

Seems from what the guy at the shop said this is not cammed and he said for it to to be doing them sort of speeds something else must of changed in order to get it up to the speeds

Remap isnt going to change where your cars revs at at a set speed.

Well I have had it done and its reduced it so I don't know other than what it was befor and what it is now. As I took note of what revs it was doing befor I had it done at 60MPH and what it is doing after. if its not going to alter then I have no idea then as am just going off what I was doing befor and after.

What have you done to check your speedo accuracy?

As above its rare to have a speedo that is correct, not sure if you can buy them for cars but on my bike I had a speedo healer which made my speedo 100% accurate but you have to set it up using GPS etc etc.

For you to get 145 even with speedo error there must be something giving you an extra few ponies, unless its well out.
