Default Urgent help

Petrol light was on this morning, but I drove to work anyway.
I left the lights on (unintentionally.. obviously) and battery died.
I had the car jump started, it fired up. Away we go.. I thought!

My dad drove off (who had jumped me) and as soon as he was too far to get back, the car stopped allowing me to rev below I'd say 3500/4000rpm.

So I thought, it could be petrol being really low. I have now put 10 litres in.
It is still doing it. Although, since putting the petrol in I have driven it back to work which consists of less than half a mile, if that.

Could it be the petrol was low, and it's still not working properly as the fuel hasn't gone in, etc?

Or is it a coincedence?

Any ideas let me know!!

I had a similar problem with mine, all I done was stick a full tank in, let her idle for a while went for a small drive and ended up being fine after that.

Ive filled up last night. Let it run idle for 5 mins this morning. Drove 12 miles in one run and it seems better but not gone. Maybe its because I kinda know how to avoid the sluggish acceleration.

Could there be a bigger problem?

Doubt it,too much coincidence that the problem is there when you let it run on fumes.

This is no good for the injectors and lets shite build up.......keep at it and hopefully the problem should disappear.

There could be a bigger problem, but it would be hell of a coincidence. Try replacing the fuel filter first. Cheap and easy.

Dont 35 miles in total since filling the car up.
I have charged the battery.
I have also topped the gearbox oil up.

I have bought a fuel filter and will be doing that tonight hopefully.

On my MG it had 2 bolts either side that needed loosening..
Reading the guides for Saxo fuel filter, is it just a button basically that gets the pipes off?
It's currently held on by a cable tie, so I will replace with cable tie again and probably get the OE clip eventually.

Any other ideas? As I would have thought if it was the fuel issue then filling up and giving it 35 miles would sort it. Same with battery, running ok on battery now, still issues.

It's embarrassing when trying to pull away at roundabout and it just loses power/acceleration so the guy behind you thinks you're incapable of driving.
