Here's the results then guys.
A power run was done with the 40mm trumpets. Then we took the injectors out and gave them a wizz on the special machine. It was apparent that they weren't flowing equally, and one of them was overflowing bay a fair amount. This one was the one which was causing my black injector, so it was nice to find out the truth. I had them ultrasonically cleaned twice, and they are better, but not perfect. We measured about a 4 - 5% varience, so not bad at all.
We then fitted the 90mm trumpets, the cleaned injectors and began doing some testing on the rollers. After some tweaks of the fuelling and ignition - all very minor - the final result was pretty good, although not as good as some would have hoped.
The engine gained some nice torque from 3500 - 6000rpm. It levelled out from 6000 - 6500rpm. It gained a nice bit from 6500 - 7000rpm. It lost a teeny bit from 7000 - 7500rpm. And lost a little from 7700 - 8000rpm. Looking at the bigger picture, there's really some nice gains which have been made here. In a nutshell, the engine is producing more power all the way to just over 7000rpm! And the losses after that are really small. I'm very pleased.
Here's the graph. The red is the 40mm trumpets and the black is the 90mm trumpets.
I thought it might make a little difference to the drive, but I was taken back completely. It's made a huge difference! It feels so much stronger, and puts a real grin on your face. Dead chuffed.

cracking results on the longer inlet tract !!!!!
The lowdown torque must be even superb - Lee was telling me how mental your car is on the road !!!
I wander what sort of figures it'd put out with longer trumpets ?!

That kinda did what I expected it to, although I'm suprised it lost a little at the top end (rather than just matching it). Everything works together on the engine, and maybe the cam timing or exhaust isn't as matched to the longer ram pipes at the top.
But at least you know how important it is to have "area under the curve" rather than a single peak figure. Hopefully it'll be going strong from now on and you can enjoy it a bit!
John.

the torque lower down is very impressive!!
but the biggest problem i would have with this is the lack of room for filter, i will not run my bodies open!
but i might look into it see if i can get them and a filter, i dont like sock filters though!!

We didn't look at the cam timing, and in all fairness, it was a little rushed due to me needing to leave. Maybe some more time on the dyno and a tweak of the cam timing might prove useful. Troy tweaked the ignition timing to try and stop that loss of power around 7700rpm, but advancing or retardning just made it worse.
Yeah, I was really surprised at the difference. Looking at the graph I thought to myself that it wouldn't make that much difference, but I can honestly say it did. It feels a lot more agressive through the RPM, and put a big smile on my face.

Hehe. Yeah, they do look amazing. And then there's the sound! I had to put ear defenders on during the power runs. The 90mm trumpets make it a LOT louder, and throatier.

What are you guys up to this Saturday?
Is your car not done yet?
Just on a side note. I did an oil change the other week, and I used Total Quartz 9000 - 5w40 fully synthetic. I've not used this oil before. Anyway, the car has done about 400 miles on it, plus the rolling road, and a LOT of hard driving, and it doesn't seem to have burt a drop. I don't get it???

Excellent news Toad!
I was going to say: its how it feels on the road that counts most - but as youve already said that then happy days
Im hoping for even more midrange and judging from your comments about the improvements here then it should feel awesome!
