Yeah ... Will be nice to have a few variations of motors there as well. Mixes things up abit.
I agree about the coldness, I'll be wearing a few layers that day!

it wouldnt surprise me if the compbrake top mounts were designed for early 106's rather than the gti. They had different top mounts.
As for the compbrake style topmount - why not run it ontop?
This is how i run mine

toad you will have to take all the plastic arch inners out or the 205's as they will rub mucho. you may even need to bend a bit of the arch but its not as big a job as it sounds.

lol very true well we got to jump on m25 at where the m40 meets it or either go down marlow bypass that way then down m4 onto it. So any places round there good for you?

That's a good point Kam, but I would still need some weld work done, as there is a fairly deep lip on top, stopping you from popping the compbrake topmount flush in place. So my choices are really either: a) Have the lip taken down so the mounts fit on top like you say or b) cut out the lips as well as a wider circumference around them, so the boss area of the topmount will then have enough room to effectively alter the camber and caster...

Right, update for you folks. I braved the cold all day today, trying to get the car ready for RR day next week, and also get my new r888s fitted to the new (second-hand) Team Dynamics. It was a good job I started working on the wheels first, as thigns didn't go quite to plan...
The rubber:
And the wheel(s):
I had the tyres fitted today, balanced and filled up with nitrogen. With light fading fast, I felt like giving up fitting the wheels on as the spacers were being a right pain in the arse! Anyway, got all the wheels fitted eventually! Time to head back home, as I was doing the work on my folks' driveway, and then, errr, a nasty noise was coming from the rear of the car. I pulled over and could tell that the rear tyres were rubbing quite badly on the arches. Back on the driveway, in the pitch dark, I get the wheels off. Here's what the rears looked like:
I thought I'd fooked the tyres! But luckily, all that grey you see is actually the remains of my arch, heh. It peels off too, and quite amusingly, the tyres haven't been damaged in the slightest. Phew! So, the area of where contact is being made is the rear of the arch, about a 1/3 of the area of the entire arch. I'm going to have to get some type of arch modification if I want to keep these wheels / tyres. Does anyone know anywhere I could take the car? I will start a thread about this...
Just to say, for the very brief moment I got to drive the car, it felt absolutely amazing! And that was with cold tyres, on greasy roads... Can't wait to get these sorted.

Could have told me earlier you git. Sadly, it looks like I'm going to need more than a little bend...

I forgot to say... Even with the TDs only weighing in at 6.4kgs, the combined weight of them and the r888s is actually more than with my Speedline Corse's and Proxes T1Rs. The r888s weigh 9kgs each!

Why? It's a good width for 7" rims.
