BT Infinity
Hi guys,
Currently i have BT Broadband (Averaging 7mb d/l speeds, terrible) and gaming on Xbox LIVE is becoming a pain.
Sometimes its ok and i can play fifa and cod fine, however if i play Battlefield 3 i get a LOT of lag.
So, has anyone got BT infinity? obviously this is fibre optic at higher speeds and should be better (I had virgin media 100mb up north, insane)
anyone have this/ know what its like for gaming?
cheers

I haven't got fibre optic but mine is fine.
Did you have any issues with it before the Infinity install?
Have you forwarded ports on your router?

I havent got infinity, thats why im asking if its any good mate.
I've always had a few lag issues with the internet where im living now.
Yeah i've forwarded all the correct ports on the current BT homehub and it still isnt good enough.
What sort of speeds are you getting?

Ah shit I read the first post and ended up reading it as I thought it was instead of how it is.
I don't have BT broadband but I do have Sky Unlimited and many say Sky are very slow, I don't tend to get any issues tbh.
Sorry I couldn't be of any more help.

Well I live in the countryside about 40 miles from a major population area so it's not really a priority for communications

you shouldnt be getting lag on that kind of connection...
Im on bt infinity and its been great. Very constant speeds and i havent had any real down time. When i use XBL i havent noticed any real lag on my side.

That's what I mean Scott, it's sooooo frustrating!
It gives me 7mb d/l sometimes, but it has went as low as 4 at times. It's just not a consistent speed.
Checking their website shows me I'm only half a mile away from the exchange box as well!!
Nothing worse than trying to play online and it just isn't playable at times.

Ring them up and ask to speak to a third line support department. I had problems on virgin media for about 6 months, the problem lay with hardware based in the town centre where I live

I have infinity. And get my full speed (75mbit) as I'm 400ft from the cabinet. It's flawless. Mega pings, fast download, no noticeable packetloss.
