A general well reviewed product is poorboys wheel sealant. Wheelwhores also do a wheel wax that I've heard good things about it, think it's a bit more expensive as your paying for the name a bit.

I use poorboys, you need to give it at least 2 coats though and because its pink you need to make sure you get all of it off otherwise it sticks out like a sore thumb. Ballache on multispokes to get every bit covered.
Makes it a little easier to get the shite off them after a few weeks but people claiming they wash them with a hose and all the dirt just runs off are living in a dream world.

We used Poorboys on old man Griff's old Leon FR and that protected the wheels nicely and it certainly felt like the wheels were easier to keep clean afterwards. They were 18" wheels and the brakes filled the wheels so alot of brake dust came off - the car was rarely used in anger but the dust did used to form on there for sure.
His new BBS wheels on the current Leon Supercopa have been protected and they're better to keep clean than the old ones - it was professionally detailed by a mate though so not sure of what he used unfortunately
