Whilst the front wheels are off, ill be fitting the front B8s too

my long term plans are to upgrade to better, bigger brakes.... But this wont happen yet

I admit, its not 100% perfect, but it looks better than what it looked before

this is is how it looked before:

And now: only pic I got ..... (it's very dusty in the pics)

Random pics...

Rear B8s are on

pugsport

So here are my next plans on my to do list:

- fit front Bilstein B8s with new top mounts
- fit lower omp brace
- paint brake callipers
- clean arches

Updates:

Both front struts are assembled and refitted with Bilstein B8 inserts and brand new top mounts.

My future plans are to upgrade the front brakes, but since funds are low, and these pads have plenty of life left, a lick of paint on the calipers will do for now

Ohh, I also discovered why my windscreen wash wasn't working....

This has now been replaced

That's it on the update front for now.

I have purchased this though ... a 1:43 model peugeot 106!
Thought it would look good on the dashboard at fcs

I know it's not the XSI model, but it still looks the part (apart from the Roland garros seats )

Update (ish)

Done afew things to the xsi over the past week or two.

- replaced auxiliary belt
- replaced oil filter and changed the oil
- replaced the gearbox oil

So all nice and fresh

I have also purchased some carbon mirror caps I'm in the process of fitting them

I have also stripped both doorcards down. I'm gonna replace the front speakers. Maybe fit carbon fibre doorcards.

Here's a pic of how she stands ATM.
Excuse the faded bump strips and arches, I will see to them later

My to do list over the next week or two ...

- source 4 x new tyres
- refit doorcards
- refit mirrors and caps
- fit cup holder into dash
- fit lower omp brace
- clean icv valve

Carbon Mirror caps fitted! look better than I thought tbh

I also cleaned the mirrors and treated them with autoglym bumper gel, as they where very faded!

Also, all alloys have been removed for fresh rubber in the morning! (hopefully!)

Decided to keep the original XSI alloys to retain the 'standard look.'

Once wheels and new tyres are back on, I'm going to be looking into getting her on the road and insured

Looks awesome, it's really come a long way since you got it.

I'm not sure if I missed this bit out but what are the seats from? ATR?

really like this build and what you've done with it, come from a bit scrappy looking to very tidy indeed.
However Ive never been a fan of the standard xsi wheels even in silver, do you not think something like some vts wheels would look smart?

Thanks mate

Not too sure tbh, I bought them from someone who allready had them mounted onto saxo frames, but he seemed to think they where from an Evo of some kind

I love the vts wheels! Thy pic makes me want a set even more.
Will probably look at getting the rear raised a little before I look at a different, bigger set of alloys.
So yes, vts alloys are in my plans! (that pic has convinced me to get some )

Updates:

got the car on the road just over a week ago, and it's allready 'broke down' twice!

1st. Coilpack plug connections were loose
2nd. Gear linkage popped off!

Also had a snapped powerflex exhaust rubber on the first day or driving!

And lastly been having bad idling problems and slight misfires Won't keep a constant idle and threatens to stall.

And now and then it'll misfire when setting off from a junction.

but out apart from that hectick week, she seems okay

i have also purchased a carbon fibre gear knob

and spare wheel having a DIY spray job as it was standard silver.

Oh.. And my TRE spare wheel strap, custom made to match the colour of the harnesses

And here's afew pics from since having her on the road

the pugsport is hanging slightly low on one side due to the snapped powerflex rubber. It now has one tempory standard rubber on until I get a new one.

Had a very good time at FCS in the pug ..Although she suffered several problems during the weekend! - was a weekend to remember that's for sure!

She suffered:
- broken handbrake cable
- overheated Friday night
- overheated and split rad hose on the journey home!
- faulty alternator

but apart from that, she ran well

after the the weekend I decided that air flow and cooling is next on my list.
the 16v lump gets VERY hot under the S1 bonnet.

So plans are:

- 2 x slimline fans
- remove fogs and fit S1 rallye fog inserts with cold air feeds
- fit Morette headlights with both inner lights removed with cold air feeds
- fit a BMC CDA induction kit with direct air feed from inner morrette light
- bonnet raisers for ventilation
- Uprated silicone coolant hoses
- brand new alternator
- heatwrap the manifold

So yeah, watch this space

here's afew pics of the XSI at FCS.
if anyone else has pics of her, please share with me

Reckon it could be the water pump maybe or something else? Looks like you've got a big rad in there already would have thought that would have been ok for cooling

Could be. Something else to look into.

When it's threatening to stall... The engine makes like a 'pulsing' sound. (Hard to describe)
So Could be some sort of pump, maybe fuel pump.

update:

havent been on here for a while so here is afew updates.

since returning from FCS, the car has changed lightly....

- morette headlights fitted. Both with inner lamps removed.
- front numberplate relocated to bottom and now has 5 holes drilled into bumper for better air intake.
- bonnet raisers fitted to help hot air escape
- front tow strap fitted (properly!)
-volt gauge installed to front pillar

i have also purchased ...

- front rallye fog inserts
- heatwrap for manifold

I am going to be spraying the rallye fog inserts black before fitting... Allthough the yellow fogs are starting to grow on me a little!

the car is in the process of having a new alternator fitted.

So on my to do list:

- fit fog inserts
- heatwrap the manifold
- find some silicone coolant hoses

i am on the lookout for a set of fibreglass bucket seats. (Something similar to the 'sparco rev' seats...)
and then on the look out for a full cage maybe

Split rad/overheating could be sign on impending HG failure. Let's hope not.
