Does that not worry you a bit? That must just be ramping the boost up?

Not really no, people get around 280 odd bhp with extras such as exhausts, new intakes and a better high pressure fuel pump so it seems well within tolerances, r-tech are very well known and respected in the vag tuning scene they wouldn't map your car to a dangerous level, there are a lot of gtis out there with this map never heard of one being dangerous
Plus as I said I have 5 switchable maps atm I've got it on map 3 which is 230bhp which is still very quick but a bit easier to get the power down in this weather

Cheers guys! When I first got it I was a bit disappointed that I couldn't afford an edition 30 gti or an s3 but now with this map on paper it's more powerful per tonne and has more torque than the s3 as it's about 147kg lighter so it's a lot of fun and a lot of car and power for the money
S3's have the bigger turbo, bigger brakes, aluminium suspension components, 4 wheel drive and look better but you do pay a premium for that so it's a good compromise

It's got a lot of torque for the power! Must feel quick but spin up quite a lot if you're grand prix'in it. I like the subtle changes dude.
It's amazing the effect a map can have on a turbo car, you'd be lucky to see 10+ bhp on most n/a's lol!

slippy son
Been in the north east visiting tom ^^ so i could kindly use his unit and his help!
We got up early and after a fuel and coffee stop we got up to his unit and got the car inside after picking the S3 arms up from TPS along with a new thermostat and coolant (due to me being unorganised i didnt get nay brake fluid in time)
emptied the boot
got the car up on stands, got the front wheels off an went around the corner to have my michelin PS3's fitted
Then once back at the unit we started on the wishbones, old gti vs new s3 arms
First one fitted (stupidly I forgot to order ball joints but mine are fine so no harm done
Tom fitting the second one (he loves pic of himself on my threads)
Final pic of both wishbones and wheels/tyres fitted, drove much nicer on the way home
Unfortunately we didn't realise how much of a ball ache the thermostat is or should i say how much of a ball ache it could be, either way its buried behind other components and it was getting late in the day so that will wait until next month when hopefully ill do another visit with the brake fluid and the bottom powerflex engine mounts, a bit more ring prep

My clutch has started slipping which is exactly what i imagined so as soon as the funds allow hopefully in the next couple weeks I'm buying a sachs performance clutch rated up to 550nm or 407ft/lbs, along with oem LUK flywheel, bolts and slave cylinder.

Thought I'd do some niggly jobs before the car goes in for the exhaust tomorrow.
As i mentioned I picked up a new 3D boot badge/handle
Old-
New-
As you may know you have to remove the rear wiper assembly to get the badge out, you may remember I was thinking about de-wipering it a while back. I used moderate force to get the wiper off, didn't budge so I got the hacksaw out and cut it off, so that made my decision for me! While i was at it i decided to whip the GTI badge off as well, was corroding around the edges so off it came. Also replaced the boot trim (got it from the R32 as mine was cracking)
Finally gave the car a clean and and polished the boot where the badge was and put some auto glym bumper care on the lower plastic ready to be clipped on tomorrow Will have to get a grommet for the rear window tomorrow and hope it doesn't rain tonight!

This weekend saw my sachs clutch being fitted
My Motul RBF 600 fluid turned up last wednesday
I lined the pressure plate up with the LUK flywheel to make sure i got sent the right clutch for my flywheel, it fitted perfectly.
I drove up to my mates unit, 170 miles away, on Friday, We cracked on with it early on saturday morning, go it parked up and jacked up.
Unfortunately when we removed the passenger drive shaft we noticed the end cap had been damaged previously leaking cv grease, we rang up TPS and they said the cap can be bought separately for about £3 Brilliant! Except they didn't have any in stock until Tuesday, unfortunately, being 170 miles away from home this wasn't an option as I had to be at work this morning! So this will have to be changed at a later date, thankfully the way the drive shaft bolts to the flange its not like CV grease will be splattered anywhere.
Got the box off after a lot of trying, never had a box be so stubborn coming off!
Old worn clutch
We cleaned the box up, oil had been dripping on it for a long time, the leak has been fixed a while a go, now ive finally got a clean box!
Flywheel being torqued up
New clutch plate
New pressure plate
Box back on, took less time than taking it off!
And this was where we left it for the night
Early Sunday morning we rebuilt rest of the car, bled the clutch with some standard fluid just so we could take it for a test drive and all is well! Clutch is definitely heavier and more of an on/off feel, it feels good
The next task was to change the brake fluid, mainly for going to the Nurburgring later this month, but when we checked the old fluid needed to be binned anyway
Last job just putting some screen wash in and thats the end to my very busy weekend
Then on the long journey home i went past this beaut!

rear end looks sick man.
hate the standard plastic GTI bumper. R32 style rear end looks so much more modern and clean!

Had a puncture on one of my gti alloys, not sure if im buying new tyres and refurbing or buying some BBS VZ's, in the mean time ive got these a4 wheels to keep me going only cost me £150, pretty good condition, 7mm tyres on front and 5/6mm on back BARGAIN!
Ive also finally bought my chrome tipped window switches, the interior door handles were looking very worn so i sanded them down and painted matt black, best £1.60 ive ever spent, would've cost me £75 to buy new ones off ebay, i also did the blanks on my steering wheel, did get before pics but cba to upload them atm, but you all now how tatty the handles get!
