It's actually already in the For Sale rules that you should state a price or at least what offers you would accept. You can see the full list HERE

well can it not be enforced?
i know what Mr 106 is on about. if someone makes an offer by PM, then no-one has a chance to offer any more for the item!

Yeah it is enforced, but the mods/admin are looking after all the different sections on the site and we can't view every single thread as soon as it gets posted. That's why you have the "report post" button

Can you do it so when an item is sold, the thread is then Locked?

I've suggested this in the past, but its hard to moderate, how do mods know when something is sold?
Locking after 30days wouldn't work either as some things go on unsold for a while then oneday someone comes on does a search and its sold.
Locking threads when the iTrader feedback is left would work for most, but sometimes multiple items are sold in posts.

Possible give eprmissions for people to be able to lock there own posts in the for sale section only? or would that be to much effort and would you need to make new groups etc?

I think a simple solution would be if people simply edited the title of their thread to say ***SOLD***. That way it will be obvious to a mod and should also stop anyone from posting in the thread anyway.
