I'm so annoyed it's unreal ... But 4 years of French car ownership. This is the first major problem so can't really complain.
I've got a very good friend who runs his own garage so getting him to have a look at it, as he does all my work. He's round tomorrow so fingers crossed he'll find the problem.
As for the Cams I'll be getting the same mechanic to fit them and once run in i've got to speak to a motorsport mapping place in Tunbridge Wells. Looking at around £400+ but I know two 106 GTi's who have been mapped at the same place which are very quick.

try the crank position sensor mate, or possibly do a compression test on it to make sure it hasnt shagged the head gasket
is it ticking over fine or is it running like its only on 3 pots (very lumpy etc) or is it just reving to one point then like its hitting a limiter?
I had a faulty crank position sensor on my 106 gti, it would never go past 5k rpm, it would always accelerate brilliant up until 5k then just judder like hitting its limiter

Chris - It's ticking over fine. When the car is in neutral I can rev it as much as I like but as soon as it's in gear it will reach 2-3K RPM and then the revs will start to fall. If I don't depress the clutch it would stall.
Possibily might be the Crank Sensor then ... It's getting checked over tomorrow evening time so will know for sure then ... Fingers crossed.

* All Fixed *
Right got the S fixed and sorted today ...
The problem was a faulty lambda sensor. So it was replaced, engine mangement codes re-set and all seems to be fine again ...
Cost me £80 altogether so could have been alot worse ...

Yeah I could have done that ... Wasn't sure of the problem until it was moved to the mechanics. Once he'd identified it as a Lambda I just wanted it fixed and back on the road.
But yeah ... at least it's fixed.
