Heh the dog photo was purely accidental, I wasn't aiming for a portrait... He wouldn't keep still and I wanted to try the camera out so took one of him in any old way I could before he ran off. Cheers for the advice though, i'll take note for future photos.

meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee??
Sorry dude my interweb has been down at home which is gay... should be fixed by tonight.
The piccys are nice but I'd avoid trying to macro everything
I like the one of the tree... Only thing I can suggest is get out of P-mode and into M mode as quickly as possible... it'll give you a lot more freedom and make you a better photographer as a result
enjoy!!!
EDIT: ignore me I thought you bought an SLR.

Nah I don't have an SLR I bought a bridge camera... Would have LOVED to gone all out but the budget's a bit tight so got this to put me on. I've had a look through a few tutorials though and have now moved fully into M mode, the difference is unbelievable. Already I'm looking at the pictures above and thinking how flat they look. Starting to get the hang of it now!
