Quick question guys I noticed today when looking at my turbo that the oil drain and feed are angled same as this one in this pic that I stole off here lol

See how the oil return isn't straight down now I know they are gravity drained will it still be alright or will I have to try and get the core rotated some how it's a gt17 btw

I believe anything up-to a 30degree angle would be considered ok. I'm sure that was the value in the book I have at home. Will check after work.

Cheers fella I'm gonna rotate the core just to be safe it's bolts on the hot and cold side so once loosened the middle should move freely in theory anyway lol

Well I thought I would give this a update been collecting a few bits the past couple of weeks still a while to go but getting there slowly

Gt17 turbo

Toyo intercooler

Toyo pipework this is just temporary once the car is up and running I will be using stainless steel with proper hoses

Oil pressure and boost gauges

Various connections

Currrently waiting for my manifold to be delivered also have ordered some ash hoses for the intercooler and some ash hoses for the water feed and return also had ordered a pillar guage pod for my gauges

Still to order
Clutch - thinking stage 2 as a paddle will be to harsh for everyday driving
Headgasket 1.8mm
Cambelt kit
Injectors - which ones will be best ?? I did think 306 gti 6 but they are a bit long ?which saab ones fit??
Spark plugs
Downpipe will need to be fabricated once the turbo is on the car
Few more hoses and air filter and dv
Slimline fan
Short oil filter once I've found a adaptor

Plus a few more things I've probably forgot haha but I'm getting there slowly hoping around may time will be fitted and ready for mapping at chip wizards thanks for reading will keep the updates coming

Man, that's quite the stack of parts. Looking forward to seeing how it turns out!

Clutch wise, with a sprung center, a helix 6 shouldn't be too harsh on the road and should still have plenty of wear resistance with the extra 2 paddles. I tend to always throw in the sturdiest clutch I can when given the opportunity though - nothing worse than cooking a clutch regularly due to too much power, and having to change it over and over.

Yes i know that feeling! i had an sas customs manifold to start with but after swapping to a bigger turbo it was hitting the block so luckily found a DP one for relatively cheap -.- (great quality manifold though)

Mine did have slight warping to the flange and luckily it didn't need lots skimmed off to level it out. I will try to answer any questions you have dude, mine hopefully should be ready again soon. Wanting to get it out for this year but budget cuts and life getting in the way its slowed down again

Guage holder came today supposed to be a direct fit onto the a pillar but I think it might need some adjusting and will mean I've gotta spray my pillars black to match ha ha

Me personally, wouldn't bother with a paddle clutch with this turbo. I run the stock clutch and it is completely fine.

Also the intercooler may well be overkill. The little GT17 doesn't generate a great deal of puff, a small twin pass would suffice. I think Wayne @ Chipwizards would be best to consult on that. I can image a fair bit of lag with a cooler, lengthy pipe work and diddy turbo. When running the same setup on my car (previous owner) it was down on power, with a cooler upgrade of similar size.
But, irrespective, it's great to see some progress.

Cheers pal yea I'm just gonna go for a stage 2 clutch as paddle is to harsh for me the cooler isn't that big tbh so hoping it doesn't affect the power to much but will see how it goes on the day it's no dramas really will wait till it's on the rollers and see what happens then go from there I'm not chasing numbers i would be happy with around 160-170 I don't suppose u could tell which injectors are a direct swap ??

Not much to update with ordered some bits and pieces today mainly for the down pipe to be fabricated i.e. Some 90 bends a flange to bolt to the turbo a flexi pipe and v band connector also ordered a silicon pipe for the induction side of the turbo and some jubilee clips will post pics as always once parts start to arrive I need to try and get a bit of pipe to weld a return to my sump also the oil filter adaptor is still proving elusive

That's all for now
