Default saxo is fu**ed? sounds like a wrx :S help needed

so about 45 miles away from my house - my car just starts ideling wrong etc, i only noticed it after the car backfired (done on purpose) going down a road that had speedbumps, after going over the speedbump at a slow speed (nothing to cause damage) the car just felt as if it was gona clonk out

i drive it about half a mile down the road to a safe spot and investigate - nothing obviouse.

so after 20 mins of looking for a solution, i head on my way home.

whenever the car was started up - she would have the engine managment flash on and off constantly unless it was getting driven.

About 10 miles down the road, the car has no power atall to go anywhere, all im getting is about 60 MAX out of it on the motorways/highways and it was taking about 30 seconds to get there, the car just burbles constantly whenever its going along,

When i shift up, i get higher revs than the gear i was in below? sometimes when i shift down, i get lower revs than a higher gear

car just wants to clonk out even if you have clutch in going 50/60

no matter what gear its in, its doing this

and the car was just fixxed! i have no clue whats going on atall

has anyone had this problem and know the solution or any insight on possiblitys? my mechanic is away till monday :/

The car earlier in the day had reved itself upto 3k revs sitting idling, and also now and again occasionally jumped down to 250 revs to 1k revs constantly untill you hit the accelerator pedal :/

Hope i dont need a new engine?? cant really afford it and dont really wanna splash out like that :/

sounds like a scooby . . . then its blowing on the exhaust, but i dont see why that would fuck up the idling . . .
centre section to back box, or cat has gone. for the noise . . .

yeah the engine block is just moving around allot

i.e you rev your car to redline and it shakes the block around, just like that - but at idling speed

i did think manifold or cat etc is gone but then again, would that affect the speed and idling? especially if it was the manifold? because its a MK2 - manifolds in the cat (i think, but it looks to me as if theres a cat on the center section or maby its a silencer?)

you engine is shaking ?
then look into a mount . . .

these things are build of fudge, and everything is rubber and crap! hence why so many people uprate practically all their bushes and mounts!

mont gone, pulles engone out of place, exhaust slips, loosing power due to exhaust not sitting corectly on the block, engine is being a wanker and not running proberally as its now hanging with a mount fucked / missing...

on ramps and have a good look!
hope its nothing bad though dude, and a smimple fix!

one more question - would the mounts get worn easily if i was putting the power down allot, and then coming off it (stressing the mounts?) as i tend to do that allot ;s

Sounds to me like you split the head gasket between 2 cylinders.

Do a compression test.

Or coilpack blown?

as said could it be a plug down? ht leads lose, fuel problem.
when i had my old corsa c it done this driving back from england to scotland! and it was because my spark plug started to fail then it just fell to bits then the top end went.

did you just put petrol in??

Hmm, but no headgasket would mean it would smoke wouldnt it?

well the spark plugs were replaced about 9 days ago for pulseplugs and they have a years gaurantee on em - but i dont see how they would go - and the coilpack,

does the coilpack always charge up about 1 min after you turn the engine off? as it keeps clicking after i turn the car off.

Could be blowing before the lambda (manifold) which would cause the engine managment light, poor running, WRX sound and poor peformance. Could have cracked the manifold/seal etc when you went over the speedbump and hence the symptoms you explained.

Happend on my grans car. True story.

just picked up the car and drove it - the car when idling is just the whole shell is shaking etc constantly if its not driving along, any clues to the problem? sounds like something is knocking?? like the center section is bouncing off the sides of the chassis

def. engine mounts?

does yours have a cat. check the lower lambda it may have fell inside the exhast system so that will cause your blow and fook the idle.

I know exactly what your problem is, As you say your plugs were recently changed, They have either not been put in tight enough and one has shook itself loose. Or whoever fitted them has cross threaded your head and the plug has come out ( This happened to me i had the exact same problem. ) Remove your fuel rail and take off your ht leads. It's what your problem is
