Default 1L Saxo Idle Problem

Right, got a 1 litre w reg saxo first which is idling high, around 1500 revs according to counter. It goes up n down sligtly.

No mats to jam pedal, tried blasting it down road see if cleared, but no joy.

In addition to this it sometimes kangaroos as you go down road, mainly in 2nd or 3rd gear.

Can anyone help???? Had a few saxos now but never had this before

Try adjusting the throttle cable, and kangoering can be a result of your ht leads.

as its a single point injection, maybe a squirt of carb cleaner round the throttle body may help. also check for air leaks in the inlet system, failing that, could be the throttle body itself

Cant see how ht leads or coil would cause the high revs on idle?

Do these have idle control valve, if so where is it. Sticking throttle body could be a good one to look at.

How about, do these have throttle position sensor?

Had a little squirt round with sum carb cleaner, but to make no difference, it still idles around 1200 revs on tick over.

Anyone?

I had the exact same issue, ignored it and a few days later it wouldn't start at all.

Replaced the coil pack and also spark plugs and it was fine again.

Right, not fixed this yet but got mate who runs a garage to plug it in today and comes up with fault code.

Is the stepper motor on throttle body, he said they very common to go wrong and not actually much can do other then replace it.

Anyone else every had to replace it, if so how much it cost
