Default Hi from North Norfolk :)

Hi everyone, my name is Jason and i'm from North Norfolk. Have been fixing up a 2000 Saxo VTS which will be my next car once November 22 (1yrs ncb & birthday).

I will get a progress report up soon, as i have logged my progress via photos. But first wondered if anyone can help me. Tried searching, all over the forum, and web, but want some more advice as to what i should do..

The car had it's MOT Friday 12th September, and it failed. Most are pretty easy, but the emissions are the problem for me. On the first fast idle test, the CO was 0.920, 0.620 over the limit. And on the second fast idle, it failed on CO again, it was 0.339. But this time Lambda failed as it was 1.154, (max limit 1.030).

Am i right in thinking a new Lambda Sensor should fix the problem? the cat was last changed in 2010, so it shouldn't be that? I'll also be changing the fuel and oil filters, spark plugs, and oil before i take it back for retest. The air filter doesn't look that bad.

Anyways, a progress report will be started soon, so pics of the car will be there

Hi dude welcome!

As far as the MOT goes was it a sports Cat or OEM you had fitted in 2010? I've been told some aftermarket CAT's don't last nearly as long as stock, but its probably cheaper to change the lambda first and hope for the best

Car has been off the road since May, when i got it, So i have no idea. Saxo passed third time lucky though yesterday, so it was the cat in the end (replaced cat and backbox). Talked to the guy who did the MOT, and he recons that it was probably a cheap cat that was on it, and that those type may only last a few years, or maybe even less. Perfect excuse to decat it i suppose
