Yeh I'm planning on putting my westcoast gearbox on my vts engine, iirc it has closer ratios - so should help acceleration !!!

the furio box is the longest box u can get, its like the vtr box.
it has long ratios and KILLS acceleration but gives top end. if ur looking for acceleration then keep the vts box or get a 1.1 box.
1.1 box will be high revs on motorway tho..

VTS keeping with Type-R? What mods? Not standard surely, my uncle has a CTR and it kills off my VTS without much fuss... But with these PH3 and my upcoming zorst system/mani, I'm hoping to fix that little mishap
EDIT- and surely longer box can't help acceleration, vts box the one to have for that- acceleration is good as ratios are close but top end it isn't that much better than a vtr

I reckon with ph3's you should be a good match for a CTR - strip a few bits out of the saxo and you should get away from him until 100+ i reckon !

your probly rite mate, but now the vts has no chance against the type R he's put a air filter n jap straight through on it. But dont forget that the VTS only cost £3500, where the type R was bowt £18000....i no what i would rather spend.lol

lol, agreed !! Plus it's fun modifying your car etc. and is a good feeling when your hard work and persistance pays off when you've done something successfully !!
I lowered my car myself, and can't tell you how happy I was when finished !!!

Completely agree mate, thats where the fun is. Alot of self-satisfaction to be had when you have got your own individual modifed ride. Mine is looking completely standard at the moment, but over the next year I'll be doing things to it on and off whenever I can scrounge the funds (still @ uni lol!) but once its done (cammed, zorst, lowered, alloys etc...) I doubt I'll want to even sell it!

Dito !!! I've been spending my savings on the car - stockpiled up some bits ready for when I put the vts engine in !!! I'm beginning to get into my student loan, but am reluctant to!! I just get in pissed some nights and bid on things for the Saxo and end up winning them !!! lol

Haha yeah mate student loans do us young Saxo drivers well! Sounds like a cammed S and CTR are a really even match... just want those cams now lol!

Shud have no trouble keeping ahead of a standard ctr with 160bhp, a 160bhp vts/gti has 174bhp/ton whereas a standard ctr has 166bhp/ton. standard vs standard theres not much in it but the ctr does pull once into 3rd.

not if you work to be per ton.
197 is it's bhp yes, but it weighs more than 1 ton.
