Default Blackberry 8900 - Help

Ive done quite a bit of research and it seems the blackberry curve 8900 is one of the best blackberrys on the market at the moment.

I only send around 200 texts a month and phone calls are quite minimal, so it will mainly be getting used for going on the internet or connecting to wifi.

So i was thinking of going for pay and go rather than a contract as ill use nowhere near the given texts/calls per month.

play are doing a sim free phone for £299 here - http://www.play.com/Mobiles/Mobile/-...archtype=genre

if i was to choose that, what would be the best sim card to go for? with a decent internet browsing bolt on and 150-300 texts for around £20 per month?

thanks,

Ive read that i wont be able to use all the features of the blackberry going with pay and go, possibly not even the internet?

if it comes to it then ill get a contract, but id only like to spend around £20-30 per month inc insurance and an internet/blackberry bolt on.

anyone got any good cheap places to buy from?

Ive been chatting with an o2 employee and they offer a sim only package which is ;

Online simplicity 20 SIM Only
Pay Monthly
1400 UK texts / 700 UK mins
with BlackBerry Unlimited UK

the price is £20 and i have to give them 30 days notice before cancelling the package, which seems pretty good,

anyone have any opinions?

Just make sure you get a contract for blackberry or you will get a big bill from using BB messanger and browser.

thanks guys, yeah it does seem good, ive only been in my job for a month so i dont wanna get tied up in a contract if i end up losing my job.

so this would be ideal

heres the package, i asked if this would allow me to use all the blackberry features such as bb messenger, internet etc and he said yes so hopefully he's correct

link didnt work..
but yeh stay on top of you bills and that. i remember 1 of my bills once came to £130 then another was £280. Was PISSED.
but be careful as well when you check how many minutes you done as when i ring up mine they say all like press 1 to check your minutes and then says we will send a txt to you shortly..................then a 4 second pause "just to let you know, calls made up to 72 hours may or may not be recorded....

fucking cheeky sly buggers!

Yeah, ill mainly be using it for internet and checking emails so i dont think ill go over the limit very often if atall.

i would go contract, but i like having the option to cancel and not being tied to an 18/24 month contract.

think i should go for a sim free BB and get this o2 sim package then?

I got the new 9700 Bold on Friday and it's a quality phone, get that if you can. It's got 3G which is a fair bit quicker than the GPRS on the Curve, it's also got a touch pad opposed to that scroll ball, so it doesn't get clogged up! It's also got a faster processor etc. Unlike the old bold though it's not such a brick, it's pretty much exactly the same size as the 8900 curve, but with some better features.

I'm paying £35 a month on O2 though, for 600 minutes / 500 texts on an 18 month contract. Insurance I can get for about an extra £5 a month from a seperate company, still deciding who to go with on this..

If I went for a 24 month contract it would have worked out at £30 a month. Love the phone to bits though, internet is quick and BBM is really good too. Could have got an iPhone 3g for the same money but just don't like them, overrated imo. Depends what you want to use it for though, iPhone has the advantage of more apps/games etc - so for messing about it's better, but otherwise I'd have a BB. More reliable, don't like touch screens and not as big.

thanks for the info mate, ive been looking into the new bold and it seems to be better than the 8900 so if i can get it for relatively cheap then i think ill go for it.

cheers
