Anyone on here a DJ? If so, what do you use?
I'm looking at getting this beauty...
The Pioneer DDJ SX. By looks of it, it's the best controller out there with intergrated Serato.
Check out this video of DJ BrainDeaD having a mix on it...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KDlI8...&feature=share
Just shows exactly how much you can do on the work of art! Instead of just mixing, it's more like a performance now!
What have you got?

one thing that annoys me nowadays is its all about button bashing and twisty knobs. All the bpms are automatically matched so there is no skill involved in beat matching any more.
I would like to have a play on something like that you've posted. I've been looking at the hercules rmx4 as i can plug my 2 decks in to that as well as having mp3 controls.
I use 2 decks and mixer thou

You can put vinyl or CDJ's onto the DDJ SX. It has inputs for it at the back

Turn up to a club with a fisherprice mixing desk and expect to be greeted by one pissed off techie.
Especially if you're just I'm a small room and not a headliner like say zedd/porter Robinson.

Yeah, Dj'd for years now. I produce music aswell.
I use my CDJ's and I have good ol' turntables aswell. I don't do MIDI sync. I think it kills the whole art TBH.
you see people doing acapella mixes with double beat drops and you think, try doing that shit whilst your beat-matching you cocky pleb LOL.

I use the DDJ-SX and it is essentially 2 CDJS and a mixer, without the hassle of having to cart around half a ton of discs.
The DDJ-SX gives you the ability to switch off "sync" and beatmatch/mix of your own skill. This is why I have one.

Unless you have a DDJ-SX with balanced master outs as well as 6.3mm booth outputs

Bringing in fisherprice desks still fuck off the engineers.
We have lovely big signs in the booths now saying do not touch the system.

Why would it fuck off the engineers unless they were retarded? This wires in in exactly the same way as any pro mixer

Because they have to unplug the current mixer which is perfectly adequate in order to suit some retard who usually needs the sync button.
Its extra work for them for no apparent reason and is usually in the 'small' rooms in venues which no one really gives a damn about anyway lol.

Why would they? If it were a decent mixer in the first place they coiuld run through either one of the inputs or a loop, so said retard can bring their set on a laptop rather than case of discs

Most decent venues have 2000s or at the very least 900s.
Who needs CDs....
Most booths are not the biggest of places, having to chop and change kit for a dj whos not actually that important is a real pain in the arse. To an extent that some promoters I know refuse to work with people who do not play off CDJ.

Good luck getting a DDJ at the moment, they're on pre-order everywhere since pioneer didn't expect such interest and didn't produce enough units. One of my mates has one, seems pretty happy with it. Then it's pioneer so it shouldn't be disappointing especially when you consider how much they charge for any of their products.
