nice one toad.i new you could get it better,ive had to put cable ties actually around the hangers so the rubber cant slide off.

this thread was a good read bit long at 25 pages  but the car is worth it, cracking gti probly the best ive seen for a while shame it looked hard with the gearbox and drive problem but minter now nice one

Sim, I got the shield off from the backbox end, but I've still got one in the middle. No knocking now anyway, so it's there's no urgency to whip it off just yet.

Well, I still have the shields for the centre section, and even so it still gets the underneath quite hot, so I'm in no hurry to remove them. The one I removed from the backbox end was metal and all rusted to buggery anyway, so I litterally yanked it off. It wasn't doing a whole lot...

Might have a look at mine this weekend then, one of them makes contact
with the centre section when the exhaust gets really hot. Metal expanding
I guess and sits against it.

Get underneath the car and wobble the exhaust a little. If it makes contact you'll hear it. If it doesn't then it won't be heat expansion causing the problem, as it won't move the exhaust that much.

I've had quiet a few requests for pics of the windows mate, hehe. I don't think the car has had a clean in months.  The weather has been so pony... I just want to get the bonnet fitted and the mud flaps, then I'll get some pics up. Good things come to those who wait.

i removed that backbox heatsheild aswel seeems to fuck up anyway so.. and my pugsport sat exactly the same but make sure its not too close to the bumper and not too far in otherwise u will get a dirty burn mark on your bumper like i did so stupid

JP, I know man, soo many issues. I've had problems from the first moment I changed something with the car, haha. What does that tell you?! To be honest, I think the lump is fairly solid at the moment, it feels quicker then it ever has before, it's just the loss of oil that's a bit puzzling. I mean, it's not horrific amounts, but just enough to make you wonder...
It's all the other things that are wrong at the moment! Mostly the brakes which are still to this moment, completely puzzling me! Is it a suspension issue that's causing the problem? Who knows... I don't know how I'm ever going to get to the bottom of this issue.
Fairo, when I lifted it up and it hit the torsion bar, I was seriously out of laughs! But it's spot on now thank GOD!  I think the tailpipe is just far enough out not to leave any dirty marks on the bumper.
