True Finchy boy, but, as an example:
OMEX 600 - £600
Loom kit - £250
Labour to fit and map - £600.
See where I'm coming from? Nearly 1 and a half large just for that...

I put the BV head in about 6 months afterwards.
Did you use this ECU then? DId you ever have issues with the management light coming on? I get ECM / PCM failure on constant. Always comes back after clearing. Wayne didn't know what to do about it, but didn't think it affected the mapping...
Anyway, it's clear as day, that yesterday's efforts of clearing the DTCs made a big difference. It was in some kind of limp mode. How? I don't know... But interestingly, the limp mode didn't seem to affect the fuelling, as it was still safe.

Right, so ur ECU just randomly throws up a DTC? Are they always to do with Management failure or are there others popping up too? I didnt use the ecu for long shall i say. The bloke that built the engine put the head gasket on wrong and kissed goodbye to the oil flow to the head! Still really pissed about it now tbh. But while it was running there wasnt any lights, and ran it spot on, which was better than i expected! Interestingly it made 153 Hp on wayne's rollers along with a few others on here.......

Matt wont map it, he will take it to Northampton, BBR or Emerald (depending what ECU) Matt is a good old boy boy, very helpful and a nice chap.

Catching up on the power of Mr Toad is pretty cool.
But having your car not running well is gay as hell.
I can see what you're saying about fitting bodies and stuff.
Uber expensive, and I wouldn't want silly power personally anyway.
Just makes me think to jack it all in and get something more suitable.

Oli. If the plans for ECU and bodies fall through, I might well be interested in your ECU I'll stay in touch, cheers fella.
Colin, who's Matt? Pug1offski?
Ferg. I'm on a downer. Car has potential, but always makes shit power. A lot of monies have gone into it too. Frustrating as hell. Maybe everything will come out sweet in the end... Can't believe I spent over £800 on a BV head a while back, when people on stock cams are making nearly the same power as me.

Wouldn't worry about it mate.
On track is where it matters and I have never seen a car overtake you.
It's rapid man.
Figures are cack IMO.
Look @ my S.
Been on the rollers twice and made rubbish power both times.
But myself and Karl etc would say it's a quick one.
Swings and roundabouts.
Don't be down about it, get the knocking noise sorted and book yourself some more track action.
You'll be loving it again in no time.

Put the old air scoop back on this evening.
On the exhaust manifold, you have studs right... And you have 3 for the left port, 2 for the middle ones, and 3 again on the right. So like: 3 2 2 3. Anyway, the bottom left stud has disappeard completely. Had a feeling it would, as I couldn't get the stud to stay tight in the head. Still, there's 2 others covering that area. Anyway, I noticed that one of the bottom ones on the middle left port was just about to fall out! so I tightened that bad boy up...
Didn't get a chance to give the car much as the weather was awful. Sadly, it's still running weird around that 2000 - 2300rpm area. Feels pretty smooth at 1800rpm. Then around the dodgy rpm area, it just sounds terrible. Very close to a misfire sound. As if someone is shaking the whole car!
Any ideas peeps???

stud wise it sounds like they have just come loose and dropped out.
With my engine mounts, my alternator bracket bolts came off - i've torqued them back up with locktite and *touch wood* been fine since.
Sounds like a mapping thing if it's got a 'flat spot' around those revs? Logically, if it was an ECU problem I would expect it to be at all the revs? Just thinking out loud.

I don't think it's a flat spot. Can't really explain. Need someone to drive the car who knows their shit...
