Dual Monitor Set up
Any geeks here have a dual monitor set up?
Tempted to go and buy another 19" TFT to match mine and have a dual layout.
Anyone done this. Worth the extra cash?

ive fancied this, my mate had it on his PC, makes it easier when playing games and browing net etc, or changing songs on WMP/Shit-tunes etc etc

I had it setup at work.
A main 20", and a 17" secondary.
But I prefer just the one, its not worth the cash tbh.
Just lets you look at 2 pages at once, nothing special.

I got 2x 19" at home, its reat for things like web design & using flash since you can have a full screen code window & full screen design windows.
Apart from that it really only extra space for me to fill with junk
There are some nifty programs that give you extra buttons up at the top right of the window. I cant remember the name of it but i get 2 more buttons. 1 goes full screen accross both monitors & the other throws the window between monitors (obviously you can just drag it accross too)
You can also have a start bar extension on2 the 2nd monitor that keeps track of windows in it (rather than cluttering your primary monitors bar & making it easy to lose things )
I'd say go 4 it, you can get a 19" TFT for <£150 these days! If you got room on the desk do it
EDIT: i also have 2 tvs in my room which are connected to my pc using S-Video cables (i cant use all 4 at once but my bed is up on the ceiling so if im watching a dvd in bed i chuck the primary desktop up there to watch) these are no good for anything involving text. they dont have high enough accuracy to read text from so you can only use em for watching vids etc

I’ve got a 19" as a main screen and a 15" for pallets and menus, like Mystic said, in photo programmes and web design programmes.

Most graphics cards have VGA, DVI & S-Video ports. but tend to only let you run 2 separate monitors at a time. Sometimes the extra monitor plugged in duplicates one of the other screens & sometimes it does nothing (well mine seem to be random anyway, might be because of the S-Video splitter or something)

I used to have dual 18" TFTs on mine when I used to play online racing/shooting games but one of them blew up and I couldn't afford to replace it

You will struggle to find games with 3 monitor support, its hard enough to find them with 2 monitor support. The only real advantages come from a design/work point of view.
Or bragging rights in your local online pub
