to save time and effort, once they join they get sent a welcome pack with links to all guides including spraying trims, refurb alloys, how to remove centre console and such?
that way the forum isn;t clogged up with same questions everyday which get answered everyday?

One problem, they won't read any of it.

I think only about 1 in 10 new members read the welcome PM as it is tbh

It would just be ignored like the rules are tbh.

People IMO should browse the site for a while before posting to see how it all works......but that never happens.

Is there anyway to set up a system where they're not aloud to post at all until they've completed so many "searches"? Or would that be just completely stupid?

All good suggestions, but to be fair (unfortunatly) I don't think any of the above would work

I'll openly admit I didn't read the 'welcome' PM when I joined in December, but I found everything out for myself (I love searching for stuff, helps the grey matter).

In my opinion, keep the welcome PM, but send another: with a link to the ''how to upload pics'' thread, as this is very commonly asked question. Also, info about the 30 day and 100 post rule, in regards to avatar, sig, and post edits would be very good. In my opinion, these are the most commonly asked questions by new people.

Hope this helps

I'm guessing it's those who don't really want to be contributing to the forum that don't bother reading/even skimming through the rules or having a good look around before posting away.

Personally I hung around for at least two months just getting used to the forum, reading anything of interest to me. Because when I joined I didn't have the first clue about Saxo's especially the engine - But after that time of reading through even just the FAQ stickies and peoples progress threads, I've learnt a huge deal about everything and also could spot users on here from there progress threads and could have a bit banter about it with them etc...

Whereas I could have simply joined and posted a load of irritating topics asking basic things and end up becoming known as a d*ck - Or scammer trying to bump his posts up.

So I'm thinking that maybe it will be usefull to add a note onto the welcome PM saying everything you need to know is stickied in each part of the forum... But it's going to be down to wether that person takes the time to bother taking note of it or not

TBF it's not exactly hard to find the stickies anyway... Or is it just me?
