Scart to VGA simple as that??
was looking at this cable

so im guessing thats what i need on my output of my laptop into my 42" tv will is display well on there
is that all thats needed or do i need some sort of converter?

A standard VGA cable is what you're looking for. Should be able to pick them for a couple of quid in maplins or even pc world.
Just remember that VGA does not carry sound.

that 2nd one wouldnt fit into my computer..
and a standard VGA well
my tv hasnt got a vga input...

Yes it'll work but don't expect it to be perfect picture quality.

Oh, assumed you had a 42 inch HD TV. If it's a standard TV then you will need to go for the scart option which will suck donkey balls as Ste says.
