My dad is being fussy as hell and wants www.pts.uk.com as his web address. Looking on website One&One web hosting you get a free .co.uk domain which he cant use as its already taken.

If i sign upto one&one and buy the domain from a different company can i use the new domain easily?

Webhosting isn't my thing!

went with one&one yes ago and they were bastards tbh

you'll find much cheaper option than them

1&1's good for domains heard bad things about their hosting tho, you can buy a domain at a different place to you're host and point it to you're webhost no problem

i had severe problems with them and they're over complicated termination policy.

And I tend to buy domains from DynaDot.com ... might not be the cheapest but I've found them to be one of the best tbh.

my dad bought the 1&1 package .... ive uploaded the folders and index.htm to the ftp server. How do i redirect the domain to index.htm? at the moment it says 404 page not found error

I would recommend using the same company for hosting and domain name as it makes the whole thing alot easier for many reasons.

After the carry on we had with my past employers domain not a chance.

I buy my domains from Dynadot.com and host myself.

One of my domains is with 1&1. Not had any real problems with them. Their hosting however is not so good. Had quite a few problems with FTP uploads and domain management. Now that i host myself the problems are all gone
