Crappy Iphone - Saxperience

Hey Guys

Mums got an iphone and is unable to use it because it keeps freezing.. Turn it on and it will be okay for 5 mins then will freeze..

Taken it to o2 and they want £130 just to send it off to apple so basically is there anyway of resetting it or something to try and stop the freezing?

If not its going in the bin!

Plug it into itunes and you can choose reset to factory settings

Take it into an Apple store it's free for repair mine did this and i sent it away got a brand new one 2 days later so they are bullshitting about the repairs, comes with 1 year manufactuere warrenty

friend did it with his iphone.

Betty tis the 1st ipod not the new one, hence why a said if i cant sort it its going in the bin! lol

Going to try sort it later at home with the itunes thing

press the round button on the front and the button at the top at the same time, if mine freezes that normally sorts it out

Geordie that just done a rest of the phone, sometimes sorts the problem sometimes keep getting it every now and again, as it's the first iPhone i had problems with it freazing and being laggy when scrolling though contacts etc, think it was just a shit version! She on the latest firmware? Should still be able to send it in for repair at no silly cost!

I dont do iphones but being the doting daughter said id try and sort it!

She has my samsung soul atm and Iv got me old j600 hah how nice am i

Plug it into the computer. Update her to the latest firmware first as it could just be that.

Right, plug it in and itunes will come up with a page that shows the phone and a few tabs at the top. It will ask you if you want to update the firmware as the chances are she is on the first one. Press yes, it will take ages but might sort out the issues.

Phone hasn't frozen once since i installed 2.1.0 (2.1.1 is the most up to date one i think).

Do what Danr says, guarantee it helps.

2.0.1 is ancient, really old. Latest version is 2.2.1 and I'd advise updating it to that ASAP.

up dated it, made no difference, restored it and still zilch!

diagnosis... the lil circle button doesnt work neither does the bottom half of the screen but i got it to play a song and gthe top half of the screen worked.. and functioned properly

Dont just put it in the bin. Have you tried going to Apple direct?

How old is it? I know your mum just got it but is it new or second hand?

I hope you restored it before you updated it

If the hardware is broken, no firmware will fix that and it explains why they need to send it to apple. In this case, go to an Apple store with your receipt and they'll change it for you.
